My current practice revolves around queerness, vernacular, Irish culture and history. I am constantly circling back to the question of ‘what is Irishness?’. My work stems from the experiences or perspectives of queers in Ireland. Relatability and accessibility are incredibly important to me and my work, and I have found that by exploring serious thematics through vernacular language and humour, my work is well understood by the public- regardless of sexuality, nationality or race. Ireland has a rich material history, one that I am constantly drawing from in order to make. Contrast of materials, techniques and narrative are key to my work.
